The Story Behind Our Mentorship Opportunity
The inspiration behind the Feelings First Counseling Mentorship Opportunity comes from Jasmine Jackson’s own journey as a student and emerging mental health professional.
During her undergraduate years at John Jay College, Jasmine had the privilege of being mentored by a professor who played a pivotal role in shaping her professional identity and career path. Through consistent guidance, encouragement, and support, this mentorship became a foundation for her growth as she navigated the counseling psychology field, clinical training experiences, and the many steps involved in becoming a mental health professional.
Jasmine understands firsthand the impact that meaningful mentorship can have on a student’s confidence, professional development, and future goals. Having someone to provide guidance, answer questions, share experiences, and encourage growth can make a lasting difference in a student’s journey.
Through this Mentorship Opportunity, Jasmine hopes to provide students with the same sense of support and encouragement that helped shape her own career. This mentorship experience is designed to help students explore the mental health field, gain insight into professional pathways, develop confidence in their abilities, and feel empowered as they pursue careers dedicated to supporting others.
Mentorship is more than sharing knowledge it is about creating opportunities, fostering growth, and helping the next generation of mental health professionals recognize their potential.
