Individual Therapy
Where feelings come first
Where feelings come first
Our Process
-

The First Conversation
The process begins with a brief consultation call to explore fit, answer questions, and determine whether working together feels appropriate for both client and therapist. This is a space to clarify needs, goals, and any logistical questions before beginning therapy.
-

Getting to Know You
The first 2–3 sessions are focused on intake and assessment. This phase involves gathering background information, understanding current concerns, and identifying key emotional and relational patterns.
-

The Work Begins
After the intake phase, sessions shift toward active treatment work. Therapy becomes more focused on collaboratively identifying goals, deepening insight, and working toward meaningful emotional and behavioral change.
What Sets Feelings First Apart:
You don’t need to “know what to say” before you start.
Therapy here is designed for people who are figuring things out as they go. We slow things down together so your thoughts and feelings can actually become clearer over time not something you’re expected to already have organized.
We focus on patterns, not just problems.
Instead of only looking at what’s happening right now, we explore the emotional and relational patterns underneath it how you respond, connect, shut down, or cope in different situations.
A structured process that still feels human.
From the very beginning, there is a clear roadmap (consultation, intake, treatment focus), so you’re never left guessing what’s happening or what comes next.
A “feelings-first” we go deeper than just talking things out.
The work focuses on understanding what your emotions are signaling, not just analyzing events. This helps create lasting change in how you relate to yourself and others.
Therapy that meets you where you are especially if this is your first time.
There is no pressure to “do therapy right.” Sessions are paced to feel grounding, supportive, and clear, even if you’ve never done anything like this before.
FAQs of Individual Therapy
-
No. Many clients begin therapy without having everything figured out. Part of the process is helping you clarify what you’re feeling and what you want to work on over time.
-
The first session is part of the intake phase. We begin to explore what brings you to therapy, your background, and what you’re hoping to change or better understand.
-
The intake phase typically lasts the first 2–3 sessions. This allows time to gather information, understand patterns, and get a full picture of your experiences before moving into treatment-focused work.
-
That’s completely okay. Many clients at Feelings First are new to therapy. Sessions are structured in a way that helps you feel grounded, supported, and clear about what is happening each step of the way.
-
Most clients attend therapy once per week, especially at the beginning, to support consistency and momentum in the work.
-
It is a balance of both. Sessions are guided and intentional, but also flexible enough to follow what feels most important in the moment.
